COVENANT GROUPS"Covenant Groups embody what it means to be a part of the church community and have provided me with a truly unique opportunity to get to know others that I would not normally have the opportunity to interact with. Other members of my Covenant Group represent a variety of backgrounds, life experiences, and generations, and I have really treasured having the opportunity to get to know other members of the congregation on a far deeper and more personal level than everyday life usually affords. I find that I am enriched by our differences, and both surprised and supported by what we share in common.” -- Covenant Group Participant Covenant groups are a way to deepen our spiritual resources, explore bedrock questions of life and faith, and make us better able to fulfill our mission in the world as a liberal religious presence. In this time when peoples' lives are rushed and fragmented, being a part of a small, committed group in which you come to be known and to know others well can be transformational. This is the overarching purpose of covenant groups. Ongoing groups of up to ten people, high school age and up, meet once a month for two hours of focused conversation on a variety of themes developed. Content is drawn from many sources including the Small Group Ministry Website of the UUA. Each group has a facilitator or two. The facilitators are trained by the membership director or minister and meet quarterly. Currently there are seven ongoing groups and two six-month groups. Existing groups have openings and new six-month groups are formed in April and October. Long term groups meet once a month and six-month groups meet twice a month.
