June 20, 2007 The Associate Minister’s Column The Rev. Sue E. Sinnamon
May 30, 2007
Dear Friends,
There is no easy way to tell you this news. I am resigning as your Associate Minister of Religious Education effective August 15, 2007. Very recently my husband, John Kerr, was invited to be the Episcopal Chaplain to the College of William and Mary and Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, VA. The invitation came as a surprise and after much discussion, we decided that this was the best choice to make. It is an honor for John to be invited. Contemplating retirement, it is the most responsible choice we can make financially. I am sad to leave you.
I am deeply honored that so many of you invited me into your lives, sharing your stories, celebrations and sorrows. In all aspects of my ministry with children, youth, boards, adults, women, and staff, I have been welcomed and challenged to do my best and most creative work. Thank you.
I want to thank all of you for your commitment to our families, children and youth. You reached out and embraced our children at UCE and invited them into the whole of this community. They know they belong here and that they are welcome. I am proud of this congregation’s commitment to children, youth and young adults.
I want to thank you for your willingness to risk adventure and to try new ways of teaching and learning and being together. I know that the Ministry of Religious Education will continue to grow and thrive under your care.
I will be in Evanston until the middle of July. Good Luck. This congregation will stay in my heart. Thank you for all the good work we have done together. It has brought me great joy serving as your Minister of Religious Education.
Blessings, Blessings, Blessings, Sue
