The Parish Minister’s Column     The Rev. Barbara J. Pescan

It’s time to thank some people. I am sure to leave someone out; so, will you tell me whom I’ve not thanked, so I can do a supplement? Thanks for that, too.

For Sundays: The various greeters of guests, and those who offer orientations to those who want to be members, and Carolyn Laughlin and Margaret Shaklee, who make sure this all happens. Hillis Howie, who provides the pulpit with sound week after week.

Lobby staff/Office monitor, Lindsey Kennedy. Before and after the service, she is at the office door doing myriad tasks for members; during the service she’s in the lobby should visitors need anything. Liz Goodwin, for organizing lunches once again — and all the crews who work in stealth in the kitchen during choir rehearsal and who stay to clean up after we leave. Gini Sayad, Kitchen Dueña. Thank you, too, to Joan Retzloff, Liz’s cohort and our Gentle Recycling Maven/Enforcer.

Oh, and the choir! and Bart! and Gregory! and all the musicians that lift us up! The Worship Associates who find words to fit morning, weather and theme to help us be awake and aware. All who share joys and sorrows, inviting us to glimpse their lives. Bart, again, for helping organize and present Evening Songs, our last-Sunday-of-the-month evening service.

Religious education teachers. The children and adults who attend Sunday morning classes, discussions, worship services and lunches. Those who do what needs to be done without being asked – moving chairs, cleaning up, noticing a need and responding. I could never name all of you.

In This Season: Thanks to Mark Ganchiff and Michael Anderson who are co-leading the Stewardship Campaign; all those who have pledged and are on your way to pledging for your continuing support to the ongoing work of our church.

To Sandra Danforth and Chris Isely who have organized the many projects into the possibilities we are considering for a capital campaign; and to those who have worked so hard gathering and presenting information to us.

Ongoing Gratitude: To everyone facilitating the ministries that serve as connective tissue among us at other times, leading: covenant groups, knitting groups, Friendship and Neighborhood Dinners, auction social events, book groups, Star Trekkers, Young-ish Adults, youth group, office volunteers.

The total of the hours and love you give is a very big number, indeed. Thank you so very much for being the soul of our religious community – you inspire us all.
