Pastoral Associates The Pastoral Associates strengthen and enhance the caring network within the UCE community. After receiving training, six UCE members entered into an agreement with UCE whereby they commit to serving as Pastoral Associates within certain guidelines and policies. With that commitment, the program that Rev. Barbara Pescan began to envision over two years ago came into being. The program has a twofold purpose: To ensure that our shut-in, ailing and older UCE members receive regular visits and care, and to deepen the Pastoral Associates’ own spiritual life. Associates will receive assignments as needs arise and further pastoral care training from area professionals. They will also meet regularly with Rev. Pescan for readings, reflection and support. Program Coordinators are Rev. Pescan and Judith Ramey, the current chair of the UCE Caring Program. The six Associates include Marcia Achenbach, Zeal Brock, Bill Fischer, Judith Ramey, Barbara Seyfried and Margaret Shaklee. All UCE members are asked to make these folks aware of their own or another member’s potential need for their assistance.
