Sanctuary chairs are movable; furniture can be rearranged to fit rental needs. 250 chairs are available on-site for theatre-style seating (200 for banquet-style seating) as well as round and rectangular tables. We will work with you to make your event all that you want it to be.

We greatly enjoyed our rental experience at UCE this past summer. The outdoor and indoor provided were both a safe, spacious areas for our campers. Also, the staff were incredible to work with – always accommodating and welcoming. We highly recommend working with UCE and look forward to our return!

The Udumbara Zen Sangha has rented space at the Unitarian Church of Evanston (UCE) for well over five years.  We have worked with a responsive UCE team to create a warm and welcoming environment for our needs. The room we regularly rent is ultra clean and prepared for us on a weekly basis as meditation and class space. We also use additional space for breakout groups, art classes and small meal gatherings.   A major plus is that just outside our door, with large east facing windows, is a lovely garden that we use regularly as the weather permits, and remains lovely even during the cold winter months.

If you are looking for a well-cared for facility, with a variety ofrental space and kitchen options, and with a staff that is accommodating and happy to be there, I highly recommend UCE.

The LWVE had a special celebration at the UCE on Feb. 24, 2023. We had the final celebration of our 100th year of operation on that evening. The sanctuary was just lovely in the early evening light, and our 100 guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres before sitting down to a lovely plated dinner and speaker. Preparations were made easy by the UCE staff having everything arranged perfectly in plenty of time. Any questions that came up were immediately answered by the staff present at the event, and our guests spent several hours in climate controlled comfort enjoying the comradery of their table mates. Everything was handled flawlessly and easily. Couldn’t have been simpler.

We offer comfortable, clean, safe space for meetings and events of all kinds. We have a variety of rooms that range from our large beautiful sanctuary with movable chairs and floor to ceiling glass walls bringing nature and the outdoors in, to varying size meeting rooms. Two of our meeting rooms offer state-of-the-art multi-platform technology to provide the opportunity to meet in person and have attendees attend by zoom. This equipment supports inclusion, and collaboration and increases flexibility and reach of your audience.

Our building and grounds are fully accessible with a ramp to and from the south sanctuary area to the lawn. We have a ramp from the parking lot to first floor classrooms and the sanctuary as well as a LULA (Limited Use Limited Access) elevator to the lower level. We have fully accessible and inclusive bathrooms. Our sanctuary is equipped with a hearing loop so that anyone with a t-coil hearing aid need only to walk into the room and hear without special devices.

Our sanctuary has a 10-foot projection screen for photo and video projection. This is particularly wonderful for memorial services when your loved one or friend’s photos can be shown to all in attendance. We have a lovely baby grand Yamaha piano for weddings, memorials and music performances. Our acoustics are excellent for concerts and music events. We enjoy groups coming in to record their voices or instruments.

We have a newly renovated lovely new kitchen with a refrigerator dedicated to renters, two stove tops and four ovens for warming.  There are low boy tables, 6 footers, and 15  60” rounds to make your event more cost effective.

Our building is equipped with air filters and special HVAC filters as part of our efforts to mitigate COVID 19. We have a mask optional policy, but encourage large groups to be masked if possible. Our building is kept clean by a professional staff of our custodian and sexton. Set ups for your event or meeting are provided in the custodial fee. Tables and chairs are provided and plentiful which reduces the need for outside rentals.

Rental hours are Monday through Saturday from 7 am – 11 pm and Sunday from 2 – 11 pm based on availability.
